The Wedding Sessions

The Wedding Sessions…

Sometimes our worlds collide and you look back on that moment and think ‘wow…that was really good timing!’ This is how I felt when one of my besties pointed me in the direction of the Little Wedding Tweet Ups at Goldbrick House in Bristol and following from that The Wedding Sessions… a new venture started by the creator of the tweet-ups Kirsten Butler aka The Little Wedding Helper and her pal and Wedding Sessions partner Emma Woodhouse aka The Wedding Reporter.

What more could a girl want when starting up a bridal business than reading the words:

‘How do you grow the seed of an idea into a fully blossoming business? How do you standout from the crowd when the crowd is as brash and fabulous as the wedding industry? You think bigger. You shine brighter. You join The Wedding Sessions.’

So…I registered, I got a place and I went along. It was such a great day. I was transfixed from start to finish…sounds a bit made up that but it isn’t. I was so into it! Not only were Kirsten and Emma warm, funny and incredibly knowledgeable – they have been there, done it and know how scary it can be starting a business and penetrating an industry that I for one knew nothing about!

We chatted about so many things – social media, organisation, brain dumps…making sure you connect with your clients, whether that be through photos of yourselves on your website to blogs to attending wedding fairs (or not). The hours rolled by too quickly, interrupted only by a sumptuous lunch courtesy of Jamie’s Italian Bristol who were our hosts for the day.

The Wedding Sessions Bible is something I still refer to and have on my person most of the time when working – a business security blanket if you will! I feel like I could email either Kirsten or Emma for advice….and although they are flat-out busy with all their various enterprises…I know they would respond with the best advice they knew how to give.

In a nutshell The Wedding Sessions focused my mind. I still have so much to learn but there is a lot of fun to be had on the way. I’m going to be a right keener and demand via this blog that they do a second course to follow on from the first…which I believe they hope to do.
